Better start thinking of New Year Resolutions

Against all odds. Man did I like that song when I was a kid! Movie´s on the telly tonight, will watch and probably have sentimental thoughts, but probably not since you simply can´t be in other mood than great with hair like this.
Met friends over cocktails earlier and they loved it, saying "you´re unleashing your inner diva", but I´ll tell ya´and believe me - that bitch´s been there all the time. You just didn´t notice her creeping up, did you.

New Year Resolutions I´ve thought of so far:
- hit the gym more often = get a PT.
- only shop quality stuff that I really need in my wardrobe i.e no more strange tops for 150 kr that I´ve bought "just for fun" and never wore.
- only put energy on stuff/people that gives some back, i.e stop wasting time and energy on stuff/people that don´t.

Good start. Now I´ll sleep on this and finish it tomorrow.

You may call me Miss...Diva

Love the looks of Pam Grier and Diana Ross in these pictures, Pam´s fierce, bold and with a "don´t even think about it mf" - attitude, yeah! And Diana is every inch the epitome of Diva.

I kind of have a hairstyle like theirs now. After almost four hours at the salon, now I´m CURLY. Am very pleased. I was sooo fed up with my dull, straight, heavy hair that I had to put on rollers e-v-e-r-y time I washed it. Now I only need to define the curls now and then. Perfect.

Tomorrow´s gonna be all about bold make up and curlywurly discodiva to salute 2006 - new, improved and reinvented. Yeeeey!

Ps. Just don´t tell anyone I looked like Rick James (with lots of Soul Glo' in his hair) before I was divastyled, hahahaha!

I´m not going to tell you a secret......

Watched Madonnas "I´m going to tell you a secret". Isn´t she just lovely?! Although I liked "Truth or Dare - In bed with Madonna" so much more (probably because she had another mindset, I hade another mindset, the world had another mindset) I enjoyed watching her doing her stuff. The girl still inspires. And it was like, soooo sweet with Guy Ritchie calling her "Mrs R"!

Today I met up with the divalicious fabulous hairdresser I had lunch with Tuesday. Amazing! He´s totally amazing! The things he did with my hair today, OMG! When he was done it was like hello glamour - bigtime! Stupid snow though, melted my curls. But tomorrow I´m getting curls galore. For real, yeeeeey! Am planning on starting next year as goodlooking as possible. 2006 will be an utterly goodlooking year. Yeah! That´s another resolution.

And if you want to know more about the fabulous hairdresser - keep your eyes on yours truly beautyreporting in a magazine near you. I might actually tell you a secret....

When we were queens of G.U.D

Just discovered a bunch of old emails from my friend A, one of the creative genious-sisters. We mailed a lot during the time when we both were extremely bored with our respective jobs and we came up with all sorts of expressions and stuff.
Reading all those emails made me laugh my arse off, they´re hilarious!

The initials of the Creative Geniouses were U and D, mine is G, hence = G.U.D
Brilliant.

Gonza´s back, alright

Yeeeey, great Christmasholiday! Christmas Eve was spent at auntie A, with big, fat, Gonzofamily. As always, lots of food, drink and fun socializing. Since there are really small kids in the family now, Santa payed a visit after dinner. He was very generous but to get our presents we had to sit in his lap and give him a hug, which everyone tried to do without laughing their arses off. Santa also seemed to have a weakness for mojitos, hahaha.
We also did the Secret Santa thing, my Secret Santa seemed to know me quite well, he/she brought me lovely necklaces.
Later on that evening, cousin S found the video karaoke - and unleashed the Gonzos egos, everybody sang something, it was crazy good fun. Hopefully it can be updated, I´m getting a bit tired of singing Robbie Williams "Something beautiful".

Christmas Day and the day after I spent at parents place. My lil'brother and his cat came over and we opened the gifts we didn´t take with us the day before. I was really, really happy since I got stuff I needed - cool vacuum cleaner that barely takes any place - and wanted; Goodfellas Special Edition DVD, Mary J. Blige's new cd, Stevie Wonders new cd, books, Nip/Tuck seasons 1&2, etc, etc. I guess I´ve been quite a good Gonza after all.
But I was most happy to just do nothing, sleep whenever and just don´t stress about anything. Guess I have to learn to incorporate that doing nothing stuff in my lifestyle and relax a bit more. When it all comes around, life´s not to be taken too serious, is it?

Return of the Silver Santa

Got my act together and managed to do my last shopping before Christmas. Feel sooo much better now, I guess yesterdays illness was a result of too much stress, irregular intake of food but quite heavy consumtion of coffee. You do the math.
Yes lil'bro, I´ve bought Zantac. It´s gonna become my new best buddy.

Now I´m soon going to morph into the Silver Santa, complete with sequine court shoes from MiuMiu. But first, some Cola de Mono to go with the wrapping of gifts, socializing and a good nights sleep.

Almost forgot - happy birthday to Swedish Queen Silvia!

Nightmare before Christmas

Started to feel totally weird tuesday and now I´m home with fits of shivering and feeling like five kinds of crap. Managed to meet Bridexena for a pre-Christmas coffe - I know, for being us it was...unusual but anyhow - and that´s about what I had energy to do.
Now I´m going to sleep and gather energy to get through tomorrow chasing the last Christmas pressies and trying to start to kick back.
God night people.

I´m dreaming of a...cool Christmas

...with no snoozing alarm, no obligations more than be social in a nice way, great food, great movies, great books, great conversations and of course, great Cola de Mono.

Cola de Mono is a liquor we drink in Chile for Christmas and also when we celebrate our Independence Day/Week, which is September 18th. It consists of aguardiente, which is, a spirit made of distillated grapes, milk, coffee and spices as vanilla, cinnamon and clove. It might sound horrendous but it´s totally delicious! And not at all like Baileys´ - where Baileys´ is sweet and somewhat too thick, Cola de Mono is light and refreshing. Yum!

From drinks to another kind of entertainment - Marit Bergmans Julshow was great! She´s just sooo cool, and that also goes for the artists performing with her. I also suspect that one of her musicians must´ve been an old school mate. Cool!

What´s not cool is the fact that it snowed yesterday evening but now it´s all gone. Anyhow, have really nice lunch to look forward to today and now it´s just one and a half day until I can relax and just kick back with a glass of chilled Cola de Mono. Divalicious!

I just hope I don´t catch a cold. Have been feeling somewhat coldish. Bah.

Update about Cola de Mono:
My very observant lil'brother made me realize I´d made a somewhat confusing Cola de Mono description. Here´s a less confusing one, I hope.
The base of the liquor is the aguardiente, then you add coffe, milk and the spices that´ve been preparated apart.

Jingle stress, jingle stress, jingle stress rock

Can´t wait until it´s the 24th. Not because of the Christmas Eve present thing, but for finally having a day off. Have to be social though, but since it´s with my big, fat latino Gonzofamilia - it will be just great. I really look forward to all the delikatessen that we´ll eat and the drinks, specially the Cola de Mono. Yum!

Will finish some musts and then off I go to Debaser to watch Marit Bergmans Julshow with my lil'brother. Yeeey!

Bah

Lost Highway is on TV tomorrow, not tonight. Bah. Bah. Baaaaaaaaaah.
Am very annoyed with self. Very, very annoyed with self. Maybe I´m getting Alzheimer or similar, I forget things all the time, etc.
Scary.

And tonight - Lost Highway

Besides Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet, Lost Highway is one of my Lynch-favourites. Am totally devoted to Lynchs' way of telling a story, the characters, the music, the details, the bizarrness. And tonight it´s on TV, yeeeey!!! Will workworkwork so I can watch it with good conscience.

I wish my life was like a Lynch or possibly an Almodovar movie, that would be sooo cool!
But - if that would be the case, I´d probably be a transvestite midget who only exists in my own fantasy or similar.
Intriguing, don´t you think?

Tårtan!

Another Christmas present for self that I got this weekend (it´s not the one I obsessed about yesterday) was Tårtan on dvd. It´s this totally weird series for kids about three brothers that one day buy a bakery even though they don´t know anything about the stuff.

I´ve heard it was very controversial when first broadcasted in the early 70's. I remember watching it on TV sometime when I was about seven or eight years old, which was 1981-82, and it was very popular then.

Was very happy when I found it at Street!

Socker, grädde, nötter och mandelflarn,
Och så sist, men inte minst, en liten ros av marsipan
Smörkräm, krikon, snabbkräm och gott gelé,
Frasses deg och en flaska saft och så en liten klick med sylt!

.....and I´m a total idiot

But not for having an opinion about women boxing. But for getting myself a Christmas gift (yes, yet anotherone, am impossible) that I told my family about. Of course my sweet lil' brother had already gotten it for me. And now I really feel crappy, not only for getting myself another present although I said I wouldn´t, but for getting this one that I already had wished for.
Am complete asshole.

Christmaspresents for self - indulgence or just plain gluttony?

Just realized I´ve given myself a helluva lot of Christmas gifts.
Yes, I´ve been good this year and it´s good to have nice things (= nice jewelry and lots of literature) to get through the totally dull month of January. Nice - yes, but this have to be it.

Whoever said women can´t - or shouldn´t - fight is an asshole

Yesterday Tinkerbell arranged sports evening, complete with dinner and really cool guests. The main event was of course the fight between swedish Åsa Sandell and the daughter of living legend Muhammad Ali, Leila Ali. Since it took a while before the fight was finally announced, the accompaniment to the main course had to be Lazio-Juventus. Final result 1-1. Boring, boring, boring, forza Juve, come on lads, you can do sooo much better!

We had glöggdrinkar to the big fight, in tribute to brave Åsa Sandell, and all were a bit disappointed thinking it would be very short. But I´ll be damned! What a fighter! All of us were deeply impressed with Sandell, who had thought that a never-heard-of swedish boxer would be that good?! She was awesome and if the referee would have let the ladies continue the fight - I´m quite sure there would have been some surprises. Hopefully Ali is woman enough to accept a second fight. That would be sooo cool! I´d really consider watching it live.

Best of 2005 - Beauty

On demand from Sessan, I´m listning my Best of 2005 in the beauty cathegory. Quite interesting, since I´ve gone from being a regular costumer to actually work with it this year.
Here goes:

1. Helena Rubinstein, Model Eyes Palette - has become an everyday essential. I didn´t use eye shadow on a daily basis but now I´m totally hooked thanks to this gorgeous product!
2. LipFusion - love the whole product, the package and the colors. Worth every penny.
3. Dr Sebagh Essential Glow - essential for us darker creatures, it really makes you glow, which is a very nice thing if you want to add some Naomi-oomph to your looks rather than looking like something washed out the cat dragged in.
4. Guerlain Fairy Mascara - for the times I´m in a hurry and only have to choose one product to enhance my eyes with.
5. Shavata eye brow products - I´m a total devotée of Shavatas browgrooming tools, beauty has never been easier.

Runners up:
Cleanser from Dermalogica, creme from Själ, eyeshadows and eye liners from Make Up Store, Glam Shine Cream in Glam Red from L´Oréal, Shower oil from Nivea, Lip & Hand Twin Butter with Olive oil from Mediterranean Spa, Kerstin Florian Spa Face Satin Lotion.

Full moon, dirty heart(s)

Tomorrow the moon will be full again and I can´t help but wonder whattef might happen, thinking of how it all ended last month. Interesting.

Despite slight hangover, I´ve been damn good today, very effective and utterly professional. Am very pleased with self and rewarded self with generous pre-Christmas gift. Lovely. Just hope I´ll get the very readable books before Christmas, that way I´ll have lots of reading to kick back with during the holidays at parents place.

As I wrote, am very, very, pleased.

What I´m less pleased with are all these constant arrangements and rearrangements of plans. I´m the first one to sign on a flexibility agreement, but what slightly annoys me is the total lack of respect of peoples time, i.e my time. Will definitely not give some people the priority I might have before, that´s for sure. Or morelike - it´s a New Years resolution! Yeah!

Damn, do I feel pleased with self!

(Full moon picture from Wikipedia)

....here we go again...

...oooops, hahaha, tumbled over, yeeeeeeeeey!

Best drink this evening: the Margaritas
Most overrated drink this evening: the Hemingway cocktail (Sorry Mr Ernest, I looove your books, but this cocktail named after you....just didn´t do it for me)
Coolest revelation of the evening: I won´t tell!
Coolest composure: ML and Sporty Spice
Coolest moves of the evening: Her Fabulousness of course! Do feel free to come back and bite me anytime, my dear!

Goodnightworld! La diva latina has to get her beautysleep.
Remember: Det löööööussseeeer saaaaaiiiii. Yeeeey!

PS:
Darling Nikki - you know, jag kommer aldrig sluta festa and you´ll be with me in spirit!
Lillebror - din lilla skitunge, du är världens bästa och roligaste lillebror!
My family all over the world, specially in Australia: you guys rule! Am soooo glad you´re not in Sydney!

One

Just heard a version of absofuckingbeautiful U2-song "One" with Mary J. Blige, one of my principal icons and inspirations. I swear I got tears in my eyes and chills down my spine. And that requires a lot.
It´s just so ultraüberamazinglyfucking beautiful.

Is it getting better?
Or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you now?
You got someone to blame.
You say
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's
Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One

Have you come here for forgiveness?
Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus?
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much?
More than a lot.
You gave me nothing,
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again

You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One
One

Realizing

Just realized I´ve booked in drinks three of the remaining six nights of this week. And it could actually even be four. It´s a dirty work socializing during the festive season, but somebody´s gotta do it big time.

Just a thought

Maybe this blog should be called "The Hangover Blog"? Or "The Hungovered Blog"? People must thing I have a severe alcohol habit. I can assure you I don´t .
I do have a party habit though. And I love a good cocktail. Or two, or three.

I´m just writing this in case Santa sees it. I mean, I really do deserve Goodfellas - the new dvd version and Nip/Tuck seasons 1 & 2!

Am actually hardworking girl dealing with the stress and demands of urban life, which demands you have to know your cocktails, knowhattamsayin´?

Woke up this evening....

...got myself somewhat of a hangover, am like resurrecting now.

Yesterdays party was totally fab with stylish, interesting and inspiring people. And a lot of interesting and inspiring cocktails as well. My favourite cocktail yesterday must´ve been the margarita. It was fabulicious. The cosmopolitans that followed weren´t bad either, but the margarita ruled.

OMG. My head still isn´t cooperating...I think I have to rest for a while before enjoying tonights Nip/Tuck episode and fixing my nails. You know, picking a nail enamel shade can be a very exhausting and demanding thing to do....

Enter sandman

Cute, isn´t he, here illustrated by Elsa Beskow. The same lady who unintendedly created the myth of the duktig flicka, which gave generations of young women performance anxiety. It´s a wonderful world.

Am so tired I could puke, have been very duktig today if I may say so.
And I´m only writing about it here to make sure Santa finds out about it. Actually, I think I´ve been a quite good daughter, a great sister, a good and supporting friend. Among other unspeakable evil things, hahaha!

Hungover at julbord

Am not really sure of what time I came home after partying at Debaser, after pre-partying celebrating new magazine Fokus. Great evening I assure you but I was one tired Gonzalita tumbling over at home in the wee hours.
The day after was disaster. Barely managed to fix tasks supposed to be finished before the week end. I really should get some help for that time optimism of mine. It´s all but sane.

It didn´t help people said I looked great, I felt like five kinds of shit and only wanted to go home and tuck myself in. Fat chance. I was supposed to meet Mr Norway for julbord-dinner at 18. Great.

I usually enjoy getting ready to be picked up, you know; having a nice glass of wine, champagne or go with the season and have some glögg, dance around to my favourite party music while trying on outfits and putting make up on.
This time it was all but that. I had to use tons of eye drops to make my eyes at least look awake and shimmer to not look dull. Probably looked like a JLo wannabee that put her make up on in the dark.

Despite of it all, dinner was really nice and I think I came home around midnight. I warned him there was a slight chance I could turn into a toad when the clock striked twelve. Evil, evil...
Fell asleep almost immediately at home, did manage to wash off make up, am very proud of self for that. As for Mr Norway...I don´t know. He´s like, really, really cute, perhaps too cute for my taste. But he likes to read, is up to current affairs and has an IQ of 160. Not bad.
Still he insisted on having dinner with a hungover Gonzalita, faaaar from being my usual International Partygirl self. That IQ-test must have gone wrong somewhere.

Vive La Fête!!!

Creative genius and constant source of inspiration Be got tickets ages ago to see Vive La Fête at Debaser tonight, and I´m sooooo looking forward to it!

It was too long ago since I went to see a band performing at a smaller, more intimate place. In the 90´s me and homegirls were frequent gighoppers, with a bit of a groupieflavor in some cases....but man was it fun!

It will be great to see Els perform live, I love her voice and how she pronounces "adorable" and "Catherine Deneuve" in french. Listening to VLF gives life a bit of a Film Noir-touch.
Adore it.
